LONDON, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Peng Shuai and Hsieh Su-Wei began their Wimbledon title defense on Thursday with a comfortable triumph over Darija Jurak and Megan Moulton-Levy.
Though they lost their serve three times in their first match since capturing the French Open, the top-seeded Hsieh and Peng offset that damage by converting on six of eight break points en route to a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
Next up for Peng and Hsieh are Yuliya Beygelzimer and Klaudia Jans-Ignacik.
Joining them in the second round were No.15 seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond, who were 6-0, 7-5 victors over Yvonne Meusburger and Katarzyna Piter.
Also winning their openers were ninth-seeded Andrea Hlavackova/ Zheng Jie and 11th-seeded Alla Kudryavtseva/Anastasia Rodionova.
Rain caused a couple of matches to either never take the court or be suspended, including No.7 seeds Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears, who will resume on Friday on serve in the first set against Naomi Broady and Eleni Daniilidou.
