HO CHI MINH CITY, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Australia set up a final showdown against Japan in the AFC Women's Asian Cup after beating South Korea 2-1 in the semi-final here on Thursday.
Australia used fast, long ball passing from the beginning of the game, causing lots of difficulties for South Korea. However, the South Koreans kept their net clear from many shoots of the Aussies, ending the first half in a 0-0 draw.
Australia opened scoring in the 46th minute, but only seven minutes later, the South Koreans leveled the score with a penalty kick by Park Eun Sun, her 6th goal so far in this year's tournament.
Australia reinforced their forward line and their efforts were rewarded with another goal scored in the 76th minute.
Also on Thursday, Japan beat China 2-1 in the very last minute of the extra-time period.
On Sunday, Japan will meet Australia in the final for the crown, while China and South Korea vie for the third place.
