BERLIN, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm were cleared for World Cup despite minor injuries, Bayern's club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt confirmed in an official statement on Monday.
Despite having won the domestic double against Dortmund in an intense German Cup final on Saturday, Germany nearly lost two key players to injuries.
The examinations Monday revealed that goalkeeper Neuer suffered a minor damage to the ligaments in his right shoulder. As a consequence the custodian will be sidelined with a sling to relieve his shoulder a few days.
Meanwhile Lahm, the captain of the national team, sustained a bruise in his ankle joint forcing him into a seven-day injury break.
Nevertheless, both players will travel with the national team to their training camp in South Tyrol on Wednesday. The Germans encounter Portugal in their first group match in Salvador on June 16.
