HAVANA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic and world champion, Idalis Ortiz, leads the Cuban teams to participate in the first edition of the Havana Grand Prix of Judo, to be held from June 6 to 8, coach Ronaldo Veitia said on Monday.
The team also include world and Olympic medallist Yanet Bermoy, and Yalennis Castillo, silver medallist in the Beijing Olympics, added Veitia, cited by the National Information Agency.
The elite group is completed with Dayaris Mestre, Aliuska Ojeda, Maricet Espinosa and Onix Cortes.
This is the first time that Havana holds a judo Grand Prix, and the competition grants points for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
According to the organizers, it is expected over 400 athletes and will be broadcast on television to 135 countries and regions.
