BERLIN, May 10 (Xinhua) - Stuttgart and Huub Stevens will not continue further cooperation, both sides announced on Saturday.
After fulfilling his "most difficult task", Dutch coach Huub Stevens and Stuttgart parted company. Stevens took the helm in March and helped the club in staying up as the "VfB" completed the season on 15th position with 32 points.
"I came here with a clear goal and that was to reach safety. It was a very intense time and it was one of my most difficult tasks as a coach. I decided, together with my family, that it was time to take a break. Stuttgart is a great club that will play in other areas of the table next season," Stevens said.
"We understand the decision of Huub Stevens and we are very grateful for what he has done for the VfB. He was willing to help us in this difficult situation without much consideration," Stuttgart president Bernd Wahler said.
