WARSAW, April 3 (Xinhua) -- President Bronislaw Komorowski and PM Donald Tusk took part in a ceremony honoring Polish participants in the Sochi Winter Olympic Games on Thursday.
Olympic medal winners received state orders and money awards and their trainers also awarded.
"Polish success in the Sochi Games was great and I thank you all for your contribution," said Komorowski when handing the orders.
Polish athletes won six medals, including four gold. Kamil Stoch won gold in two ski jumping events, Zbigniew Brodka won a speed skating race, and Justyna Kowalczyk won a 10 km ski race.
Komorowski also decorated Irena Szewinska for her " distinguished merit for developing and propagating sports and for contributing to the spread of Olympic ideals in Poland and the world." Szewinska won seven Olympic medals in track-and-field events in the 1960s and 70s. She is a member of the International Olympic Committee.
