And Jackson said he looks forward to delivering a winner to New York.
"There's no better place to win than New York City," said Jackson.
Jackson led the Knicks to the first title in 1972-1973 as key reserve on the team. He then becomes the most successful couch of the league, winning 11 championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls.
This would be his first time as team president and according to the Knicks he will be in charge of all basketball decisions.
"I can think of no better opportunity than the opportunities that I've had, three of the biggest cities and basketball franchises Chicago, Los Angeles and now to come back where I started. It's a great feeling."
