BELGRADE, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Ivana Spanovic, Serbian long jumper that won bronze medal in at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships that was finished on Sunday, said Monday that she expected to improve her score at the Diamond league meetings in Shanghai in May.
"I am happy for winning a bronze medal, but I was prepared for much more. I had problems with landing and could jump as far as I am able to," said Spanovic, who had a result of 6,77 meters on Sunday to become the first Serbian female to win a medal at the World Indoor Championships.
She returned to Serbia Monday and held a press conference promising her fans that she will prove once again that she is top class at the upcoming IAAF Diamond League meetings that will take place on May 18 and at the European Championship in Switzerland in summer.
Spanovic's best score in carrier was 6.92 m, which was set in February at the Balkaniad in Istanbul, Turkey. Eloyse Lesueur from France (6.95 m) and Katarina Johnson Thompson from Britain (6. 81) took the gold and silver medals.
Spanovic raised eyebrows of athletic lovers in 2013 when she won the gold medal at the IAAF World Championships, Moscow with the score 6,81 meters.
