RIO DE JANEIRO, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo secured Rio de Janeiro's Guanabara Cup on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over rivals Botafogo at the Maracana stadium.

Midfielder Gabriel and defender Leo Moura scored either side of halftime to give the Rubronegro an unassailable lead in the competition.

The result means Flamengo automatically qualify for the semifinals of the Rio state championship next month.

Meanwhile former Brazil internationals Luis Fabiano and Paulo Henrique Ganso were on target in Sao Paulo's 3-2 victory over Corinthians.

The Tricolor now lead Sao Paulo's state championship standings with 42 points, six ahead of second-placed Penapolense.
