SOCHI, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Marie-Philip Poulin scored the overtime goal to snatch Canada's 3-2 victory over the United States in the women's ice hockey final of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games on Thursday.

It was the Canadian women's fourth straight Olympic gold.

Earlier, Switzerland came from behind to beat Sweden 4-3 to take the bronze medal.

Poulin hit the winner in the ninth minute of overtime after equalizing the scores in the last minute of the final period.

The United States had led through Meghan Duggan in the 32nd minute and Alex Carpenter in the 43rd before Canadian Brianne Jenner pulled one goal back.

"It was a hard game, we came back, we never quit and we believed in ourselves," said Canada forward Hayley Wickenheiser. "We had great strategy and we had the fitness and the composure to pull it off in the end.

"She (Poulin) just got the puck and put the puck in the net tonight and that's all we needed."
