SOCHI, Russia, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- International Olympic committee president Thomas Bach said here on Friday that the Sochi Winter Olympic Games will be held safely.
"All security arrangements have been made and all measures are in place," the German said at the Sochi airport. "We have worked closely with everyone responsible. I am very confident that these games will be great."
These will be Bach's first Olympic Winter Games as IOC President since he replaced Jacques Rogge on Oct. 9, 2013.
Bach is scheduled to run with the Olympic torch prior to the opening ceremony on Feb. 7.
