DUBAI, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was victorious over Andy Murray of Britain in a straight set win, scoring 7-5 and 6-3 against the 2013 Wimbledon champion Thursday evening.
Murray, the world's number four, did not find his old strength yet during a swift and dynamic match as the Scot still recovers from back surgery he had in September.
Tsonga will play on Friday in the semifinal against Novak Djukovic. Djukoivic, currently number two in the men's ATP world ranking will show up in Abu Dhabi for the first time in public with his new trainer, German tennis legend Boris Becker.
Spain's David Ferrer will meet his compatriot and men's world number one Rafael Nadal on Friday in the other semifinal after he won the first match on Thursday 7-5, 6-1 against Swiss David Wawrinka.
The men's final will take place on Saturday, Dec. 28 at around five pm local time in the Zayed Sports City Stadium in the capital of the oil-rich United Arab Emirates.
Named after the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship will distribute 250,000 dollars prize money.
