MARRAKECH, Morocco, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- FC Monterrey defeated CAF Champions Al Ahly SC 5-1 on Wednesday in the Moroccan resort Marrakech to claim fifth place at the Club World Cup.

Neri Cardozo opened the scoring for the CONCACAF champions after three minutes before Al-Ahly's Emad Meteab equalized in the eighth minute for the African champions.

But Monterrey rolled over its opponent from there with goals from Cesar Delgado in the 22nd and 65th minutes, as well as by Leobardo Lopez in the 27th and by Humberto Suarez in the 45th minutes respectively.

FC Monterrey finished fifth for the second time in their Club World Cup history after completing the same fate in 2011.
