KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa on Thursday wished reigning Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande a great FIFA Club World Cup.
Shaikh Salman, who will attend the matches, is hopeful that Guangzhou's current domestic and international form will enable them to put on a good show in Morocco.
He said Guangzhou are well equipped as they have the reigning AFC Asian Player of the Year Zheng Zhi and the AFC Foreign Player of the Year Muriqui, apart from having World Cup winning coach Marcello Lippi.
Guangzhou, who were crowned Asian champions after winning the two-leg final against South Korea's FC Seoul, will take on Egypt' s Al Ahly in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
A win over the African champions will give Guangzhou a chance to pose a challenge against European champions and German giants Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.
