BERLIN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery has to give the German Bundesliga top clash against Dortmund a miss due to an injury, the Bavarians announced via their official homepage on Thursday.

Bayern's key player and UEFA's Best Player in 2013 will be unable to join in at the Bundesliga top encounter, when the German giants face Borussia Dortmund.

The Frenchman suffered a rib injury at the 3-0 World Cup qualification play off victory over Ukraine on Tuesday.

"This is really bitter as I was desperate to play the top match in Dortmund. I'm sure the team can do it without me this time," the midfielder said in an official press release.

However, it is unknown, if Ribery can return for the Champions League's group stage game against CSKA Moskva on Wednesday.

Bayern sit currently atop the standing in the German Bundesliga, four points ahead of rivals, and second placed Dortmund.
