ST. PETERSBURG, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Russian Premier League leaders Zenit St. Petersburg have confirmed their status as the team to beat this season after a 2-0 home win over Moscow rivals CSKA in their Round 13 clash this evening.

An early goal from Roman Shirokov was complemented by a strike from Brazilian star Hulk on the stroke of halftime. The Moscow club proved unable to find a way back into the match in the second half.

Zenit will now be hoping their strong league form translates into success at European level. The Russian club must bounce back from a slow start to Group G of the UEFA Champions' League, a group also featuring Porto and Atletico Madrid.
