QUITO, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador's No.1 tennis player Julio Campozano will lead a group of four players to face Switzerland in the Davis Cup World Group playoffs in September, team captain Raul Viver announced Wednesday.
The list also includes Emilio Gomez, Roberto Quiroz and Gonzalo Escobar who was a surprise in the announcement.
"Gonzalo (Escobar) was just out of college, but his results and attitude led me to settle on him," said Viver at a press conference.
"The team is motivated, all excited, known to be difficult to face Switzerland, but have to take it as an opportunity," Viver said.
Switzerland will host Ecuador on indoor hard courts in Neuchatel from September 13 to 15. The winner stays in the 16-nation world group in 2014.
Switzerland was initially scheduled to be led by Roger Federer, third in the world, who however announced in May he decided to take more time off this year to recover physically and be with his family.
