QUITO, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Spain recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Ecuador in their international friendly at Estadio Monumental on Wednesday.
This was Spain's first match since suffering defeat against Brazil in the Confederations Cup final. Goals from Alvaro Negredo and Santi Cazorla both scored in very solid performances.
In the 25th minute, Alvaro Negredo got La Roja off the mark when he slotted home from eight yards.
Antonio Valencia came the closest to grabbing an equaliser on the hour mark, but Ecuador never really got much of anything going as Spain held on for a comfortable win.
Spain doubled their lead when Cazorla netted the second goal in the 63rd minute from just inside the penalty area after picking up a pass from Christian Tello.
Ecuador were win-less in their last three matches but still sits in third place in CONMEBOL qualifying for the World Cup.
