日期:2013-07-26

JINAN, China, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian forward Vagner Love have officially joined Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng, the soccer club said Wednesday.

After nearly three months of selection, the club chose Vagner Love as a new foreign player, said Shandong Luneng.

Vagner Love, 29, played for Russian football powerhouse CSKA Moscow before the move.

Vagner Love started his career at his homeland side -- Palmeiras. He left the club for CSKA Moscow after only half a year. During his following five-year-stay in Moscow, Vagner won two Russian Premier titles, four Russian Cups and UEFA Cup in 2005 during his stay in CSKA, and he became the top scorer in the Russian top league in 2008.

Vagner later played with Palmeiras, Flamengo and CSKA successively. He returned to CSKA earlier this year after one year in Flamengo.

Having also won the 2004 and 2007 Copa America titles with the Brazilian national team, Vagner was believed to receive a huge offer from Shandong Luneng.

As usual, Shandong Luneng did not disclose details of the deal.

According to the club, Romanian player Marius Niculae terminated his contract with Shandong Luneng on the same day for injury, as Vagner moved in. However, Niculae just had a hat trick on July 21 at a friendly game, which stirred heated online discussions on the club's foreign players selection policy.

Shandong Luneng F.C., coached by former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Serbia coach Radomir Antic, are standing second at the Chinese Super League (CSL).
