HAVANA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The Cuban judo team are scheduled to fly to Miami Thursday to take part in the IJF Grand Prix between June 15 and 16, a coach said here on Wednesday.
Ronaldo Veitia, trainer of the women's squad, said he is accompanied by London Olympics gold medalist Idalis Ortiz (+78 kg) and silver medalist Yanet Bermoy (52), Dayaris Mestre (48), Maricet Espinosa (63), Onix Cortes (70) and Heidy Abreu (+78).
The men's squad is headed by London silver medalist Asley Gonzalez (90), along with world and Olympic medallist Oscar Brayson (+100), Magdiel Estrada (73) and Jose Armenteros (100).
The Grand Prix of Miami grants 400 points to the winners for the world ranking.
According to the official site of the event, some 350 judokas from 41 countries and regions are expected to take part in the two-day event.?
