HOENDERLOO, The Netherlands, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Rafael van der Vaart will miss the forthcoming friendlies of the Dutch national team against Indonesia and China, the Dutch football association KNVB announced on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old midfielder of Hamburger SV arrived at the training camp in Hoenderloo on Wednesday to be examined for an Achilles tendon injury. The medical examination showed he will not be available for the matches against Indonesia on June 7 in Jakarta and against China on June 11 in Beijing.
Head coach Louis van Gaal will not call up a replacement for the 105-time Dutch international. The squad now consists of 20 players. Van Gaal already missed 12 regular internationals, because they will be active for the Netherlands at the European Under 21 Championships from June 5 to June 18 in Israel.
The Dutch team will finish their training camp on Monday June 3. The next day they will fly to Jakarta.
