BAKU, May 23 (Xinhua) -- An Evaluation Committee for the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games gave a news conference on Thursday in Baku.
Representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISFS) also participated in the conference.
Speaking at the conference, ISFS Secretary General Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al-Nassar said "Baku is ready to host the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games." "I hope Baku will be confirmed as the host city of the Games," he told media.
ISFS Secretary General noted that non-Muslims are kindly invited to join the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games along with athletes from Muslim states.
According to Azeri minister of youth and sports Azad Rahimov, the choice of the host city for the 2017 IS Games will be announced on July 21 at ISFS General Assembly congress in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games will be reportedly held on June 23 - July 2 under the slogan "Solidarity - is our strength" and bring together participants from 57 countries and regions.
The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multinational, multi-sport event involving the elite athletes of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
Baku applied for hosting the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games 2017 last year. This year Jakarta will host Islamic Solidarity Games in September-October.
