ANKARA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim was given a nine-match ban over "unsportsmanlike conduct" during a match against Turkish Super League's Mersin Idmanyurdu last Saturday, local media reported Thursday.

Terim was sent off the pitch at second half during Saturday's Galatasaray-Mersin Idmanyurdu match for reacting to the referee over his controversial decisions. Terim threw the ball to the ground to express his anger.

The disciplinary council of the Turkish Football Federation banned Terim from participating in nine Galatasaray matches. The disciplinary council also banned Terim's assistant coach.

With this ban, Terim will not be available in his team's remaining matches during the rest of this season.
