RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay striker Diego Forlan scored his fourth goal from as many matches as Internacional overcame arch rivals Gremio 2-1 in Brazil's Campeonato Gaucho on Sunday.
The 33-year-old opened the scoring at Porto Alegre's Estadio Centenario by converting a 26th-minute penalty before Rodrigo Moledo made it 2-0 just after half-time.
Gremio's Willian Jose reduced the deficit with a 68th-minute spot-kick after Douglas Grolli was brought down by Josimar when through on goal.
The goal was Forlan's fourth in as many matches for the Brazilian top-flight outfit in 2013.
"The most important thing is that we are working well together as a team and that physically I am feeling good," Forlan said after the match. "I'm managing to help the team by scoring and that makes me happy."
Forlan's impressive form comes after a disappointing debut season for Internacional last year.
The winner of the 2010 Golden Ball award for the best player at the World Cup managed just five goals in 19 matches after his July move from Inter Milan.
