LONDON, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has signed a one-year contract extension with the English Premier League club, Chelsea announced on Tuesday.
"I am pleased I will be starting my eighth season at Chelsea," said the 32-year-old England international on the club website.
"I wanted to stay at Chelsea because we are always fighting and challenging for trophies. That desire and the will to want to win things have not gone."
The contract extension ends weeks long speculations recently which has linked Cole with several European giants including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Cole joined Chelsa from their city rivals Arsenal in 2006 and his previous contract in Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of this campaign.
