RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian top-flight club Gremio has confirmed the signing of Chile international striker Eduardo Vargas on a one-year loan deal from Italian Serie A outfit Napoli.
Gremio's executive director Rui Costa confirmed the deal on Wednesday, saying an official announcement would be made within days.
"We have made a great signing. We have an agreement with Napoli and now we are preparing the documents needed to finalize the contract," Costa told Radio Bandeirantes.
Vargas is expected to travel to the southern Brazilian city of Porto Alegre for a routine medical exam next week.
He is unlikely to be available until after Gremio's 2013 Copa Libertadores debut against Ecuador's Liga Deportiva Universitaria in Quito on January 23.
Vargas, 23, has won 15 caps for Chile since making his international debut in 2009.
