BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- A most decorated team in China's top professional soccer league has been bought by a fellow league club after suffering a lack of fund from the investors.
Dalian Shide, eight-time top league champions since 1994, was purchased by city rivals Dalian Aerbin, Aerbin club announced on Friday.
Aerbin could ask the Chinese Football Association (CFA) to disqualify Shide from the top league or sell its qualification to other lower league clubs. According to CFA rules, an investor is not allowed to own more than one team in certain league in order to avoid possbile match-fixing.
Aerbin currently stand in fifth position in the 16-team Super League while Shide are 14th.
Guangzhou Evergrande were crowned after the 30-round league that end on Nov. 3.
