MOSCOW, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Russian national basketball squad's coach David Blatt has resigned, Russian Basketball Federation said on Tuesday.
Seven years since he first took over the team, the 53-year-old American Israeli coach has helped the national team "reaching the highest achievements in the history of Russian basketball, winning the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games, as well as gold and bronze at European Championships in 2007 and 2011," the federation said in a statement published on its website.
The federation "thanked David for his collaboration, wished him good health and luck in the future," said the statement.
Blatt said in a statement he resigned with "bittersweet" feelings. He was proud of coaching the men's team to reach several successes. Meanwhile, the coach admitted his step down was a " personal decision," without providing further details.
