BARRANQUILLA, Colombia, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- "The Tiger" Radamel Falcao scored two goals as Colombia defeated Paraguay 2-0 on Friday in South American zone 2014 World Cup qualifying.

The Atletico de Madrid forward opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and added another in the 88th.

The victory allowed Colombia to temporarily top the standings with 15 points from eight games in the qualifying. But Argentina would return to the driver's seat if they beat Uruguay later Friday.

Paraguay is now out of the contention for a place in the World Cup finals, with only four points from five matches.
