THE HAGUE, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Judith Arndt of Germany captured her third time trial title at the world road cycling championships in the Dutch province of Limburg on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old, who won a silver medal in the London Olympics, rode the 24.1 kilometers from Eijsden through Valkenburg in 32 minutes and 26 seconds to retain her crown.

"I am very proud," Arndt said. "As a defending champion it is always difficult. It was pretty hard, but I rode as hard as I could."

American rider Evelyn Stevens (+34 seconds) finished second and Linda Villumsen from New Zealand (+41) grabbed bronze.
