THE HAGUE, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Leroy Fer and Tim Krul will not travel to Budapest with the Dutch team for the 2014 World Cup qualifying match against Hungary on Tuesday, the Dutch football association KNVB announced on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Krul injured his left elbow during the training in Katwijk on Saturday. Last Friday against Turkey the goalkeeper of Newcastle United was surprisingly preferred over Maarten Stekelenburg, who was the first choice under Bert van Marwijk over the last four years, by coach Louis van Gaal.
Jeroen Zoet was selected as a replacement. The 21-year-old goalkeeper of RKC Waalwijk makes his debut in the Dutch squad.
Fer already left the Dutch camp on Saturday because of a knee injury, which he suffered in the match against Turkey.
The midfielder of FC Twente will be out for two to six weeks. Adam Maher of AZ was his replacement.
The Netherlands won its first 2014 World Cup qualification match against Turkey 2-0 on Friday. On Tuesday they will meet Hungary in their second encounter.
