THE HAGUE, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- After signing Robin van Persie on Friday from Arsenal, Manchester United is due to sign another Dutchman, Alexander Buttner, the 23-year-old left back of Vitesse Arnhem confirmed on Sunday.
Buttner is expected to undergo a medical on Monday and will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
"This is really a dream coming true," he said to Dutch local channel Omroep Gelderland. "It all went very quickly and of course I am very happy."
In the past months Queens Park Rangers, Fulham and Southampton also showed interest in the left back, but for several reasons this interest did not end up in a transfer. Due to the pending transfer Buttner was banned from the first team of Vitesse. He lost a case against his club in court to terminate his contract, which ran out in 2013.
Buttner played 107 Eredivisie matches for Vitesse, in which he scored 10 goals. He was part of the provisional Dutch squad for Euro 2012. In Manchester he will meet Dutch star striker Robin van Persie, who signed for the Red Devils in the biggest transfer of the summer.
