BUDAPEST, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Top Hungarian Olympians made the Olympic oath at an official ceremony in Budapest on Friday.
Waterpolo star Tamas Kasas, swimmer Zsuzsanna Jakabos and wheelchair fencer Gyongyi Dani proclaimed the oath in front of fellow Olympians.
"Everyone who has earned their passage to the Olympic, has already proved their sporting greatness," said Zsolt Borkai, President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee.
Laszlo Kover, speaker of the Hungarian parliament, gave his thanks to all those who helped to put together the Olympic team which will represent their homeland at the London Games.
On behalf of the athletes, pentathlete Adam Marosi said that he speaks for all his colleagues on the team, that they are ready for the Olympics and they will show the world what Hungarian virtue means.
So far 156 Hungarian athletes have already secured their participations in 23 sports.
In Olympic history, Hungarian athletes have won a total of 160 gold, 144 silver, and 164 bronze medals. At Beijing Olympics Hungary won 3 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals.
