BERLIN, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Olympic champion Du Li was upset in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions final by Hungarian younster Ildiko Karmacsi on Saturday in Munich's shooting World Cup.
Du, 30, finished second in a total of 688.8 after shooting 588 in the final. The world record holder had won her last ISSF medal at the London Olympics test event in April when she bagged a bronze. But she has beening missing from the top of the podium in world-class events since her Beijing Games victory. Her teammate Yi Siling just missed the podium with a fourth place finish of 683.3.
Karmacsi, a 22-year-old who had never made it to an ISSF final match in this event, grabbed the gold in 690.3.
"I am not qualified for the Olympics Games. But after this match, I made it to the World Cup Final. I will prepare for that. In the meantime, I have to study for my university," said the engineering student.
Barbara Engleder of Germany came third in 687.7.
South Korean Jin Jong-oh, Beijing Games silver medalist in men's 10m air pistol, lifted victory in this event Saturday on 691.1 points.
Tan Zongliang of China, currently ranked first in the world in this event, finished second with an overal score of 686.9. Turkey's Yusuf Dikec was third in 686.5. China's 2012 World Cup Final silver medalist Zhang Tian came sixth in 684.1.
