RIO DE JANEIRO, March 23 (Xinhua) -- On the same day that Corinthians officially terminated Adriano's contract, the controversial striker declared on Friday that he will begin practicing with his former team Flamengo.
Corinthians announced on Friday that the reason behind Adriano's dismissal was due to a complete lack of professionalism and dedication. Legally, the team's justification safeguards the club from having to pay an estimated 1 million US dollar fine to the striker.
However, Adriano promised to take the matter to court in order to receive what is rightfully his.
Also on Friday, Flamengo's vice-president of soccer Paulo Cesar Coutinho announced the return of Adriano to the club. No contract has been signed between both parties, rather the club has offered Adriano to use its facilities in order to fully recover from his torn Achilles Tendon and get back into shape.
Adriano is expected to participate in his first practice with Flamengo on March 26.
