PARIS, March 18 (Xinhua) -- France's top league club Auxerre fired on Sunday the coach Laurent Fournier after failing to lead the team to advanced standings and improve its results.
"The decision (of firing Fournier) has been thought for a long time. Today there is no dialogue between the coach and the players. In addition, (he) was desperate to not succeeding in guaranteeing the team's coherence," Gerard Bougoin, the club president told the local broadcaster RTL.
The new coach's name will be unveiled after the club's board meeting later on Sunday, the report added.
Under the helm of Fournier who came to Auxerre last June, the French club registered only four victories while he was beaten in 12 games.
Auxerre ranked 19th in the French top league after scoring 24 points so far. Enditem
