WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Spanish center Marc Gasol was named the NBA Western Conference player of the week on Monday after leading the Memphis Grizzlies to a perfect 4-0 week.

Marc Gasol, the younger brother of the Lakers' Pau Gasol, averaged 19.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 blocks as the Grizzlies defeated Chicago, New Orleans, Detroit and Sacramento.

In three of those games he had "double-doubles" in points and rebounds.

Orlando star Dwight Howard was named the Eastern Conference player of the week, a span in which the Magic went 3-1.
