ROME, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri complained that his side did not lose to Roma but to deflections and refereeing decisions.
The Partenopei attacked throughout the match, but were beaten 3- 1 at the San Paolo on Sunday.
"Roma are an excellent squad and Erik Lamela is destined to be a champion. We knew the dangers that this fixture held for us," Mazzarri was quoted as saying by football-italia.net.
"I could have asked for nothing more from my Napoli, as I'm happy with their performance. We have to accept the result. In football you win and you lose."
However, Mazzarri was angry and confused at an incident that could have changed the game.
"I can't understand why they disallowed Edy Cavani's goal. It would've put us on 1-1. That is all I want to say about the referee. Let's hope from next time we'll have a little more luck.
"I admit that I am annoyed at this defeat, because the result absolutely does not reflect what happened on the pitch," he said.
