WASHINGTON, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Four European swimmers made the history on Saturday, setting up a "world record" in the women's 400m short course freestyle relay in a swimming competition in Atlanta, Georgia.

The swimmers of four different countries clocked in three minutes 27.53 seconds, beating the old mark of 3:28.22 set by the Netherlands three years ago.

However, their timing does not stand as a world record as they are all from different countries, namely Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark, Francesca Halsall of Britain, Aliaksandra Herasimenia of Belarus and Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands.
