DONGGUAN, Guangdong Province, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese basketball star Yi Jianlian injured in a Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA) match here on Friday night.
Yi, who is arguably second to Yao Ming in fame in Chinese basketball, was crushed by Guangdong Hongyuan teammate Zhu Fangyu in the right leg in the second quarter of their home game against Beijing Jinyu.
Yi quitted the game and has been sent to a local hospital for further examination, said Li Chunjiang, head coach of Guangdong.
Yi, 24, started his career as a professional player in Guangdong. He joined NBA in 2007 and played for the Washington Wizards before he came back to China amid the NBA lock-out.
Guangdong Hongyuan, the seven-time CBA champions, was defeated by Beijing 104-92.
Aaron Brooks made his debut in the CBA. The Phoenix Suns guard, who just signe for Guangdong, played for nearly 15 minutes, having four points and two assists.
