BUDAPEST, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Russia continued to dominate the open-water long-distance events at the World Finswimming Championships in Szeged, Hungary, on Friday.
Two events were decided on Friday, the men's and women's 6,000m races, which were both won by Russian swimmers.
In the men's race, Roman Maletin won gold with a time of 49 minutes 54.53 seconds ahead of compatriot Alexey Shafigulin who finished in 50 minutes 44.71 seconds. Davide De Ceglie of Italy took bronze with a time of 51 minutes 19.70 seconds.
In the women's event, Marina Umerenko won in 54 minutes 45.34 seconds ahead of Iana Trofymets of Ukraine (54 minutes 56.58 seconds) and Elena Osmolskaya of Russia (55 minutes 03.52 seconds).
