THE HAGUE, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg reached a personal agreement with AS Roma on Saturday.
On Friday Ajax and Roma already practically agreed on the transfer fee of around six million euros, but both clubs are still talking about the guarantees for the payment.
The 28-year-old Stekelenburg underwent a medical examination in Rome on Saturday. He will sign a four-year contract.
"Finally the deal is done," said Stekelenburg on the website of his management agency Sport-Promotion. "I am proud to sign a contract soon."
"This club is breathing football, in all aspects," he continued. "I did not have time yet to see the stadium, but I've already seen the training complex, which looks good. All facilities are there, everything is optimal, all beautiful."
Stekelenburg is a product of the Ajax youth academy. He became league champions with the Amsterdam side in 2004 and 2011. In 2010 he reached the World Cup final with the Dutch national team.
