RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians is close to sign striker Adriano from AS Roma for next seaon, the newly elected president of the Brazilian soccer club said on Wednesday.

Roberto de Andrade said that an agreement with Adriano for the 2011 season has been reached, but AS Roma president Rosella Sensi had earlier confirmed Adriano would remain at the Itlian Serie A outfit next year.

Despite Sensi's remarks, Andrade believes that the chances of Adriano's return to Brazil are high.

Palmeiras and Flamengo are also interested in attaining the former Brazilian international.
