BERLIN, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- German Bundesliga leaders Dortmund obtained their chances to remain at UEFA European League thanks to a 3-0 over Ukrainian club Karpaty Lwiw on Thursday at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund showed from the start their dominance while limited Karpaty Lwiw staged harmless soccer.
Youngster midfielder Shinji Kagawa headed home a cross by midfielder mate Nuri Sahin to give Dortmund the lead at the 5th minute. Dortmund produced a bunch of goal scoring scenes against over challenged Lwiw but they remained short of accuracy.
It had to come the 49th minute when again midfielder Sahin donated an assist when he crossed a free kick into goal area where defender Mats Hummels headed home the 2-0 lead.
In a one-sided affair Dortmund sealed the 3-0 second before final whistle when striker Robert Lewandowski netted a through ball from six teen meters to preserve the possibility to remain at the UEFA European League.
Dortmund sits on 3rd position in-group J while Lwiw sits on last position without a win. Bundesliga leaders Dortmund has to win the last match against Sevilla to reach knockout stage of European League.
