GUANGZHOU, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Council of Asia's varied portfolio of multi-sports events gives all 45 members of the OCA an opportunity to stage international competitions, OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah said on Monday.
In answer to a suggestion that the Asian Games had grown too big for many countries and regions to bid to host, Sheikh Ahmad replied that the OCA also staged the Asian Winter Games, Asian Beach Games, Asian Indoor/Martial Arts Games and Asian Youth Games.
"The OCA hosts many kind of Games, with a different budget, different size, different sports program and athlete entry," said Sheikh Ahmad.
"Asia is rich with the number of Games, and then there are the regional Games such as the South East Asian Games, East Asian, West Asian, Central Asian and South Asian Games.
"We have almost 11 Games, some every two years and some every four years, so we have a very tight program and schedule."
Sheikh Ahmad said the OCA events and regional competitions gave everybody the chance to host a Games, commenting on the fact that Laos had pulled off a successful SEA Games in the capital Vientiane in 2009.
