RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- On the road against last-placed Gremio Prudente, leader Fluminense was only able to produce a 1-1 draw on Saturday in the 27th round of the Brazilian soccer championship.

Despite the draw, Fluminense remains in the first place.

Fluminense scored their only goal in the 33rd minute when Dario Conca crossed the ball to Rodriguinho who dominated the ball and blew it past keeper Giovanni.

Gremio Prudente scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute. Off a turnover, the home team quickly took advantage when Willian Jose angled the ball past a diving Rafael.

The draw keeps Fluminense in the first place with 52 points. In the 28th round, the team will receive Santos on October 6 when Gremio Prudente who remains in 20th and last place with 21 points, will travel to play Gremio.
