RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian men's basketball team suffered a huge blow as their star forward Nene Hilario will have to miss the upcoming world basketball championship in Turkey.

The team's doctor Carlos Vicente Adreoli on Saturday revealed that the Denver Nuggets star aggravated a long-time injury in his right leg in Friday's friendly against France.

He added Nene only played 12 minutes in the game which Brazil lost 58-56.

Brazil will next take part in a four nation tournament to be held in Lyon, France. Besides Brazil, Australia, France and Cote d'Ivorie will also line up for the tournament.

The world championship will start on Aug. 28.
