RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Fluminense soccer team officially announced the arrival of star midfielder Deco on Saturday.
The negotiation and liberation of the player with England's Chelsea took nearly two months to conclude.
The vice-president of soccer at Fluminense, Alcides Antunes, made the announcement. After the club received the official liberation of the player from Chelsea on Saturday, the club immediately signed the athlete to a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old Brazilian native previously declared his wish to move closer to family. He then said that the only team he would play with in Brazil was Fluminense. Since the player fell out of the plans of Chelsea, the player demanded his release, facilitating his return to Brazil.
Deco will receive his official presentation to the media and fans on August 9. In his professional career, Deco has played in 594 games, scoring 108 times.
