COPENHAGEN, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Second-seeded Li Na from China defeated Kristyna Pliskova of the Czech Republic 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the first round of the Danish Open WTA tournament here on Monday.

Li broke Pliskova in the fourth game of the opening set to lead 3-1, but Pliskova, 241st-ranked in the world, broke back to force a tiebreaker.

Li finally restored the order in the second set before clinching the set at 6-3.
