JOHANNESBURG, July 4, (Xinhua) -- The South Africa World Cup organizers said on Sunday that they have no news on whether Nelson Mandela will present at next weekend's final.
"Former president Nelson Mandela has got an open invitation to any match of the World Cup. If he comes we'll be very happy, if he doesn't we will understand," organising committee spokesman Rich Mkhondo told reporters.
The 91-year-old former president has yet to appear at the tournament.
Mandela was expected to attend the opening match on June 11 but cancelled the plan following the death of his great granddaughter in a car accident.
Mandela had sent a letter to the national football federation to wish the last African team in the tournament success at the match on Friday.
The final is scheduled for July 11.
